About this blog

Ave, Regina cælorum! Ave, domina angelorum! - Hail, O Queen of Heav’n enthron’d! Hail, by angels mistress own’d!

With these words, the Church venerates her Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, from the Feast of the Purification until Easter. With these words, the Church appreciates and acknowledges the Blessed Virgin’s role in the history of salvation as the Mother of God, co-redemtrix and mediator of the mercy of God by giving birth to the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and serving him for the rest of her life.

Therefore, the Byzantine Divine Liturgy says, right after the Consecration: “It is truly proper to glorify you, who have borne God, the ever-blessed and immaculate and the Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who, a Virgin, gave birth to God the Word, you, truly the Mother of God, we magnify.”

The aim of this blog is to participate in the glorification and veneration we owe our Mother for the things she has done for us by saying “yes” to the calling she received from God, and what she still does through her intercession as Queen of Heaven and Queen of Saints. This blog aims to contribute to its readers’ growth in Marian devotion, through articles about mariology, different traditions of Marian devotion, reviews of books, and other subjects, faithful to the Magisterium of the Church.

The author of this blog is a student of Theology (not a seminarian), whose major interests are liturgy, dogmatics, apologetics, computers, movies, computer games and literature. He also likes hanging out with friends, occasionally hunting, and traveling. He does not count himself as a Traditionalist, but he’s certainly not a modernist. He is an altar server in both forms of the Roman Rite, and he appreciates them both, however he dislikes the more liberal way of celebrating the Ordinary Form - thankfully he lives in a diocese where the Ordinary Form is mostly celebrated in a worthy and solemn manner. He is not pre-conciliar, but definitely not post-consiliar. He prefers sticking to the Councils (all of them), not some vague “spirit” of any Council, be it Trent or Vatican II. He is a big fan of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, and his writings as Cardinal Ratzinger. His main devotions are to the Blessed Virgin and to the Sacrifice of the Mass in all its forms and rites.
